StemVivo's mobilized human peripheral blood leukopaks are collected as a highly concentrated, low volume apheresis collection from donors who have been mobilized using granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF)*. Mobilized leukopaks are a highly sought after source of human peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) consisting of approximately 7x as many white blood cells per mL compared to normal donations - with 30% monocytes, 60% lymphocytes, and greater than 1% CD34+ stem cells on average. CD34+ stem cells are pluripotent stem cells that can differentiate into a vast array of immune cells. CD34+ stem cells are normally found at a 0.01 to 0.1% abundance in normal peripheral blood and at a 0.1 to 0.4% abundance in cord blood, which makes mobilized leukopaks one of the best sources available to acquire high quantities of this cell type from a single donor.
All leukopaks are collected with IRB-approved protocols and documentation. Apheresis units are collected by Spectra Optia Apheresis systems using acid-citrate-dextrose solution A (ACDA) as an anti-coagulant.
